Obligatory Rambling by The Manwell:

This story started out as something that I was writing for "fun" (God, I am such a freak...) because I really, really wanted another good Heero/Duo obsession story to read. And with the help of one song in particular ("The Tower" by Jade Redd) I started formulating it.

But then I found out about The Vault's 2005 Spring Songfic Contest and suddenly I had a reason to get serious about it. As per the rules of the contest, there are no lyrics in the fic. The fic is meant to illustrate what might have inspired the song itself. So, even though I've always maintained that I would never-as-long-as-I-live write a songfic, I'm okay with this one.

WARNINGS: This is the most graphic Gundam Wing fan fiction I've turned out to date. It is very NC-17 and is rated for language, angst, obsession, possible psychosis, graphic yaoi citrus, and a few other things that would completely ruin the story if I mentioned them. However, there is absolutely no torture and no NCS. I promise.

And finally, I want to send out a warm and happy "Thank you" to TK Maxwell for so very generously offering to look over the unfinished draft of this fic, helping me figure out where I wanted to go with it, and even suggesting "Essence" as part of the title. You are awesome, woman!
